Designed by Apex Circuit Design, the modern Zhejiang International Circuit, located in the large Chinese city of Shaoxing in Zhejiang Province, opened in 2016.
Built at a cost of $200 million, the FIA Grade 2 circuit was designed as a luxury multi-use motorsport destination where wealthy car owners and car manufacturers can push their vehicles to the limit.
Wrapping around the side of a small hill, the circuit features a mixture of mostly medium-speed corners and elevation changes around the 3.2 km layout.
One of the first major events held at the circuit came in October 2017, when the TCR International series visited in its final year, supported by TCR Asia and TCR China.
Both the Asian and Chinese series visited again in the years that followed, but international tin tops have since stayed away from the circuit, which has a business model geared around not only major motor racing events.
