The history of MotorLand Aragón goes back to 1965, when the first street race on the Circuito Guadalope in the nearby town of Alcañiz was first held.
For nearly four decades, races were held on a tight circuit in the small Alcañiz town, including with Super Touring cars in the late 1990s, but by this time it was widely known that a permanent circuit was needed.
The last race in Alcañiz was held in 2003. Groundwork began on the new MotorLand Aragón in 2005, 5.5 kilometres to the north-west of Alcañiz, with the Hermann Tilke-designed circuit opening in 2009.
One of the most modern facilities in Spain, MotorLand Aragón features a 5.344 km main circuit, including 50 metres of elevation changes.
Licenced to the highest FIA Grade 1 level, the circuit first attracted international touring car racing in 2020 when the FIA World Touring Car Cup visited in its COVID-19 impacted year.
The series returned in 2021 and 2022, but the demise of WTCR and the weak Spanish touring car scene has left the future of tin-top racing at Aragón uncertain.
