Nürburgring race winners
Opened in 1927, the Nürburgring is one of the world’s oldest and most famous motor racing circuits. The longest variant of the circuit, the Nordschleife, is approximately 25.4 km in length and is nicknamed ‘the green hell’.
The Grand Prix circuit was completed in 1984 in response to concerns about the safety of the Nordschleife and has been modified several times over the years.
Despite this, touring car racing remained popular on the Nordschleife and with the DTM continued until the early 1990s. Following a 22-year absence, in 2015 top-level touring car racing returned to the Nordschleife with the WTCC, and has been a mainstay on the calendar ever since.
