The return of the TCR Germany series has been postponed to 2025, after a “too small field of participants” was interested in taking part in 2024.
Germany has been without a touring car championship entirely since the demise of the TCR Germany series after 2022, which itself followed the switch of the DTM to GT racing in 2021.
The resurrection of the standalone series was announced in late 2023, with BG Sportpromotion taking over headed by Rene Binna and Christoph Gerlach, with Franz Engstler resuming the role as promoter.
Six events had been scheduled in Germany, Austria and Slovakia, three of them in conjunction with TCR eastern Europe.
But due to a low number of interested entries, the resurrection of the series has been delayed by another year.
“We continue to consistently pursue the goal of bringing the popular TCR Germany racing series back to the race track as a championship,” said a statement by the series promoter.
“We have not yet succeeded in doing this for 2024: difficult economic conditions for teams and drivers ultimately resulted in a too small field of participants.
“The restart of the series has therefore been postponed to 2025.”
