Brazilian team Crown Racing is planning to enter the 2022 TCR South America series, competing with two Honda Civic TCR cars for two yet-to-be-announced drivers.
The outfit, based at the Autódromo do Velocitta, is managed by experienced touring car racer Carlos ‘Cacá’ Bueno, who has a long history racing nationally but also competed in the 1998 and 1999 South American Super Touring championship, winning the latter.
TCR South America is already planning to stage races in Brazil next year at Interlagos, Goiânia and Velocitta together with the Truck Cup races.
Crown Racing won the Stock Car Brazil teams and drivers’ championships in 2015 and 2016.
“We at Crown Racing are very pleased to join TCR South America in 2022,” said Team Chief William Lube. “The team has a history of Stock Car success, and it will be very interesting to be able to venture, also, into this category.
“It is a new door that opens, a new story to be written, so we wait and let’s do our best, going in search of the best possible results on our début.”
TCR South America promoter Mauricio Slaviero is expecting Crown Racing to perform at a high level in the series next year.
“Crown Racing’s interest in joining TCR South America in 2022 is yet another example that we did a good job in the inaugural season,” believes Slaviero.
“The TCR concept is an international reality, with the promotion of great races all over the world. Not surprisingly, there are more than 15 automakers involved in TCR competitions.
“Crown Racing has a formidable history in Stock Car and without a doubt, together with Honda, will also be a protagonist in TCR South America.”
