The new-for-2021 TCR South America series has already attracted strong interest from entrants, with 35 pre-entries having already been received by the promoter.
Having been officially announced in June this year, the new regional TCR series has already attracted teams from seven different countries in the Americas – Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay.
Cars from six different brands are amongst the pre-entries from interested teams.
Applications will now be considered in the coming weeks, with the promoter to announce the list of successfully allocated licences by the beginning of September.
“We are delighted with this response that follows the virtual meeting we had hosted a few days ago,” said Ricardo Caballero, Sporting Manager of TCR South America.
“We have no doubt that TCR South America will be a series of top international level with a bright future.
“It will attract the best drivers of each country and will bring prestige to the region.”
Marcello Lotti, President of WSC Group, says the interest has been higher than anticipated already.
“We are very impressed with the amount of applications received in this preparatory stage that has even exceeded our expectations.”
