Nathanaël Berthon returns to WTCR with Comtoyou Racing

Frenchman Nathanaël Berthon will return to the FIA World Touring Car Cup grid this year, partnering Tom Coronel at Comtoyou Racing in an Audi RS3 LMS TCR – reuniting him with the team that he raced with in 2018.

Berthon raced in the inaugural WTCR season in 2018, claiming a podium finish in Wuhan and ending the season in 15th overall, before switching his focus to sportscar racing for 2019.

Now after one year in the FIA World Endurance Championship in LMP1 and LMP2 machinery, Berthon will return to touring cars in the same machinery which he competed two years’ ago.

“It is a real pleasure to be able to return to the FIA WTCR with the support and help of Audi Sport, DHL and Audi France,” said Berthon.

“I know the car and a large amount of tracks, it will not take me much time to be back in the game. Meeting again the guys from Comtoyou Racing makes me really happy, everything is there to win.”

The 30-year-old will make his WTCR return at the Salzburging on 12 – 13 September when the revised, six-event season, gets underway.

Berthon will compete before then in the 24 Hours of Portimão in an Audi RS3 LMS TCR alongside Coronel and Nicolas Baert, the son of Comtoyou Racing team owner Jean-Michel Baert.
