Will Brown dominated race three in the TCR Australia series at Winton, taking a lights-to-flag victory ahead of Aaron Cameron and Russell Ingall to extend his series lead to over 100 points.
Having won race two, Brown started from pole position for race three and the Hyundai driver was never challenged in the race, helped when fellow front-row starter Jason Bright stalled at the start.
In the end Brown romped away to the biggest-yet win in the series’ history, with a lead of over ten seconds at the chequered flag to record his sixth win of the year and take his points lead to 116 points.
Melbourne Performance’s Cameron was second, after the Volkswagen driver assumed the position at the start, ahead of team-mate Russell Ingall in his Audi, the veteran tin-top racer making his fourth visit to the TCR Australia podium this year.
Brown’s team-mate Nathan Morcom brought his Hyundai home in fourth, after he passed Tony D’Alberto’s Honda for the position on lap 12.
D’Alberto was the leading Wall Racing driver in fifth, ahead of team-mate John Martin in sixth.
Kelly Racing’s Andre Heimgartner completed a solid points-scoring weekend by bringing his Holden home in seventh for the third race in a row, ahead of Dylan O’Keeffe in eighth, the Alfa Romeo driver staging a comeback drive after his second race puncture.
Melbourne Performance’s Leanne Tander was ninth, having lost out to O’Keeffe three laps from home, whilst Hamish Ribarits completed the top ten in the second Kelly Racing Holden.
After stalling at the start, Bright recovered to 12th, benefiting when team-mate Alexandra Whitley turned in on James Moffat’s Renault as the pair were battling ahead of Bright.
Series newcomer Liam McAdam was the last classified finisher, after the Audi driver hit the barriers on the exit of the final corner on lap six and lost the fifth place he was then running in.
Jordan Cox stopped after contact on lap two took out is Alfa Romeo, whilst Chris Pither failed to take the start in his GRM-run Renault.
The next round of TCR Australia is at Sandown on 20 – 22 September.
