B3 Racing’s Dušan Borković was delighted to have claimed his first pole position in the TCR International Series at Spa-Francorchamps, calling it a reassurance after a disastrous weekend at the previous event.
Borković continued to improve his pace from free practice, ending the first part of qualifying in second overall, behind fellow SEAT racer Pepe Oriola, despite having had his best lap time deleted late on in the session for exceeding the track limits.
The Serbian racer than went one better in Q2 to secure his first pole in the series, despite opted to not target a tow in the qualifying session.
“It’s great to get the pole here at Spa, it’s a good reward for the team after the difficult weekend in Portugal,” said Borković. “Considering the car that has done the pole here is exactly the same that suffered the accident at Estoril, you realize how well the boys worked.
“Today, everything worked well: car, tyres, strategy… I just tried to keep calm after one of my best laps in Q1 was deleted and remain focused.
“We’ll see how things go tomorrow but my main objective remains to score heavy points.”
Borković secures an additional five points for his championship challenge as a result of taking pole, moving him up to sixth in the championship on 32 points, 38 adrift of leader James Nash.
