Just two weeks after his best-ever weekend in the British Touring Car Championship, Bobby Thompson has been forced to miss this weekend’s event at Thruxton due to ‘financial complexities’.
Thompson returned to the BTCC at Snetterton last time out with West Surrey Racing, under the banner of Zeus Cloud Racing with WSR.
However, the 27-year-old has been forced to miss what would have been his second event of the year this weekend, due to ‘financial complexities’.
WSR included a short statement on Thompson’s participation in a pre-event press release, saying:
“Unfortunately, due to financial complexities outside of WSR’s and Bobby Thompson’s control, it will not be possible this weekend to run the #19 BMW that was driven to a superb podium finish at Snetterton.
“WSR continue to work hard with the team’s commercial partners to put Bobby back in the BMW as soon as possible.”
Thompson himself put out a short statement on social media, saying he will continue to work with WSR and his partners to find a solution.
As you may of already read, I won’t be racing this weekend. This is hugely disappointing for myself, WSR and especially you fans who follow and support me. We will continue to work with @Official_WSR and commercial partners to ensure this is not the end of my 2024 @BTCC season. pic.twitter.com/V76MIZku3A
