Bobby Thompson will return to Team HARD for the final two events of the 2023 British Touring Car Championship season, after reuniting with some of the partners he worked with earlier in the year.
Thompson, 27, had contested the first half of the 2023 campaign with Team HARD, before having to step down from his seat after the mid-point of the season due to budgetary reasons.
His seat was taken over by Michael Crees from Croft onwards, but with the team also losing Nic Hamilton ahead of Knockhill, whose seat was temporarily taken by Rob Huff for the event, there has been a drive available ever since.
Last time out at Donington Park the team was reduced to five cars as the seat was not filled, with the team only scoring two top 15 finishes between its five cars at the event.
Thompson scored a best finish of second at Brands Hatch earlier in the year – only his second outright podium in the BTCC – and currently sits 20th overall in the drivers’ standings, having scored five top ten results in total.
“Bobby’s commitment to Team HARD. Racing has been inspiring, and we have sorely missed his valuable contribution off-track since the summer break,” said Team Owner Tony Gilham.
“We are delighted to have him back and believe that this reunion will propel us to even greater heights as we look to put the events of Donington behind us.
“I also can’t thank everyone who is continuing to support us enough. It has been a really challenging season off-track with some seriously bad luck on it.
“So, a big thank you to our partners, staff and supporters for their continued support.”
