Team HARD down to five cars for Donington Park

Team HARD will lose one car for this weekend’s British Touring Car Championship event at Donington Park, with its most recent driver unable to take part.

The team has seen a number of driver changes since the mid-season break, with Jade Edwards and Bobby Thompson both departing prior to the resumption of the season at Croft.

Replacements were found for their seats in Daryl DeLeon and Michael Crees, before Nicolas Hamilton then dropped out prior to Knockhill.

For that event, Rob Huff stepped in to race for the team, but the 2012 WTCC champion already has prior commitments to race in the TCR World Tour in Argentina this weekend.

TOCA BTCC Licence (TBL) rules state that each entrant cannot make more than one change of driver per car in a season, except in “genuine cases of force majeure”.

According to TOCA, “every attempt has been made by Team HARD to ensure its obligations are fulfilled”.

As a result, TOCA and all other TBL holders are “satisfied that every attempt has been made by the team to meet its entry obligations and has therefore declared the absence as a case of force majeure for one event ONLY.”

Team HARD will announce who will drive the car in the final two events of the season in the coming weeks.
