Cyan Racing has announced that it has extended its contract with Uruguayan racer Santiago Urrutia at the recent TCR World Tour event held in El Pinar.
Urrutia, 26, has spent the past four seasons racing in Lynk & Co machinery with the Swedish team, and the news means that the relationship will continue, although the duration of the contract extension has not been specified.
Since joining Cyan Racing in 2020, Urrutia has scored seven race victories, and he also scored two wins in TCR South America in 2021 when racing a Lynk & Co for PMO Motorsport.
T the most recent TCR World Tour / TCR South America event in Montevideo, Urrutia claimed a popular pole position and race one win on home soil.
“’Santi’ is one of the fastest touring car drivers in the world and a valued team member who has performed strongly since day one with the team,” said Team Manager Fredrik Wahlén.
“Our decision to extend our contract with him was easy to take and we look forward to continuing working together towards more success on track.”
Urrutia added that he is grateful for the opportunities already provided by the Cyan Racing outfit, having only switched to touring car racing in 2019.
“I’m very happy and thankful to renew my contract with Cyan Racing, the team that has given me the opportunity to become a professional racing driver – something that I will never forget,” said Urrutia.
“I feel that I am a part of the Cyan Racing family, we have together won touring car world titles and I couldn’t be happier than where I am.
