Power Maxed Racing (PMR) has revealed it will expand to three cars for the 2023 British Touring Car Championship, after acquiring a third TOCA BTCC Licence [TBL].
The Warwickshire-based team has already announced Andrew Watson and Árón Taylor-Smith as two of its 2023 BTCC drivers, but it will now be able to add a third driver to its campaign for the coming season.
The TBL has been acquired from Team HARD, and PMR will now work on building up a third Vauxhall Astra shell for 2023.
“It was an opportunity we couldn’t pass up,” said Team Principal Adam Weaver. “We’ve had plenty of driver enquiries and a big enough premises and all the kit to run another car.
“The economies of scale made it viable and helps further secure our long-term future in the BTCC.
“The timing was just right as we have developed many staff over the years from apprentices to engineers, and it gives them the ability to step up and take on more responsibilities and continue their career growth.
“Therefore, we are all looking forward to fielding three cars in the BTCC for the very first time.”
The team will reveal its third driver next week. Last year it ran Ash Hand and Michael Crees in the series, both of whom have not confirmed any racing plans for 2023 yet.
