Qualifying for the TCR Europe series at the Nürburgring has been cancelled due to thick fog at the circuit, with the stewards meeting to discuss how the grid for race one later in the day will be formed.
With TCR Europe acting as a support race for the DTM this weekend, the schedule has to be modified to allow the headline event to take precedent.
A statement from the DTM said: “Currently, conditions are not suitable for track activity. The plan regarding the timetable is to resume whatever track activity is scheduled at the time of day the track is ready. Any previous sessions will not occur.”
Race one is scheduled for 17:00 CEST (16:00 BST) and the stewards held a meeting to discuss how the grids for both races will be formed.
It was decided that the grid would be formed from the combined practice times from free practice on Friday, giving Tom Coronel, the second practice pace-setter, pole.
The Comtoyou Racing driver will have first practice pace-setter Nicola Baldan alongside him on the front row of the grid.
The partially-reversed grid second race will feature the top ten from the ‘qualifying’ classification being switched as usual, giving Target Competition’s Josh Files pole.
