Senna Proctor leads the way in second Croft practice

BTC Racing’s Senna Proctor upped the pace in second practice for the British Touring Car Championship at Croft, edging out fellow Honda racer Gordon Shedden for the top time.

Proctor hit the top of the times in the final five minutes of the session, lapping just 0.023 seconds faster than Rory Butcher had in the morning’s earlier session.

Team Dynamics’ Shedden had been around the top of the times throughout the 40-minute session, eventually going second quickest in the final minutes.

Toyota’s Butcher continued his impressive pace to end the session in fourth, less than a tenth of a second slower than he had been earlier in the day, having topped the times for much of the mid-part of the session.

Chris Smiley was the leading Excelr8 Motorsport Hyundai driver in fourth, ahead of the second Team Dynamics’ Honda of Daniel Rowbottom in fifth.

Josh Cook continued the strong session for BTC Racing and ended up in sixth, ahead of the leading rear-wheel drive car of Team BMW’s Stephen Jelley in seventh.

MB Motorsport’s Jake Hill had been one of the session’s early pace-setters, posting a time of 1:22.601, but he was unable to improve and eventually dropped to eighth by the end.

Sam Smelt once again put his Toyota in the top ten, with championship leader Ash Sutton completing the top ten times with a lap which was 0.358 seconds off the pace.

For the second session in a row, Team BMW’s Colin Turkington missed out on the top ten, the Northern Irishman ending up in 16^th.

Qualifying is scheduled to get underway at 14:50 BST.
