Colin Turkington given post-race penalty for Ash Sutton contact

Colin Turkington has been handed a post-race 17-second penalty for contact with Ash Sutton in the opening British Touring Car Championship race of the season at Thruxton.

Turkington tapped the rear of Sutton’s Infiniti at the complex on the opening lap, sending Sutton spinning to the rear of the field.

Whilst Turkington went on to originally finish in fourth, Sutton could only recover to tenth come the chequered flag in the ballast-free race.

Officials have adjudged Turkington to have been at fault for the clash, handing a post-race 17-second penalty which drops the Team BMW driver to tenth and behind Sutton in the results.
