Mike and Michelle Halder switch to TCR Europe

After making a sudden withdrawal from TCR Germany at the weekend, siblings Mike and Michelle Halder have now confirmed that they will contest to the full TCR Europe season in 2020.

The duo withdrew from TCR Germany on Saturday after Mike was excluded from second in race one, and with it lost points for an effective race win, after he disconnected his fire extinguisher in Parc Fermé.

Incensed by the decision, in he context of the disconnection allowing for the safer exit from the vehicle, the duo quickly announced their exit from TCR Germany, where Mike has competed since 2016 and Michelle since 2018.

They will race the same Honda Civic Type-R cars in the European series, continuing under the banner of Profi Car Team Halder which they raced in TCR Germany under.

“I always had TCR Europe on my agenda as a follow-up,” said Mike. “Only the missing title in TCR Germany had kept me away from this step so far, but now we think the time has come for us to move ahead.

“We want to thank Profi Car for confirming their support and following us in this new adventure.”

Mike has had previous experience in TCR Europe, contesting the 2018 finale when he even won race two in his Honda.

In TCR Germany, Mike has accumulated five total race victories and was a title contender for both of the past two seasons, whilst he also finished as runner-up in 2017, despite not winning a race that year.

Michelle has also been victorious in TCR Germany, winning at Zandvoort last year, whilst she also claimed a podium finish in the series already in 2020.

With Andreas and Jessica Bäckman also racing in TCR Europe, Mike and Michelle Halder become the second siblings to both enter the championship.
