Russians Klim Gavrilov and Grigoriy Burlutskiy will join the TCR Europe series grid at Monza next weekend, racing an Audi RS3 LMS TCR and Volkswagen Golf GTi TCR respectively.
Gavrilov was a front-runner in this year’s TCR Russia series, where the 19-year-old was in contention for the overall title until the final round at Sochi, ultimately just missing out and ending the year third overall.
Gavrilov is no stranger to either the TCR Europe series or Monza; he joined the grid of the series at Spa-Francorchamps earlier in the year, having made his series début at the season finale in Barcelona in 2018.
The seven-time TCR Russia race winner has also raced twice in TCR Italy this year, taking to the track at the Monza round in April when he won the first race.
Gavrilov’s Audi will be run by the VRC-Team who he took part in TCR Russia with.
Despite returning to TCR Europe, Gavrilov has previously been critical of the driving standards, saying after his appearance at Spa in June: “I’m not enthusiastic about the rivals, to put it mildly. Everyone was shoving, unfolding each other, there was a complete orgy on the track…”
Gavrilov will be joined on the grid by compatriot Burlutskiy, who was eighth overall in this year’s TCR Russia. Burlutskiy’s Volkswagen will be entered by Carville Racing.
Burlutskiy also took to the track in the Baltic Touring Car Championship round at Pärnu following the conclusion of TCR Russia last month; he finished second in both races.
