The TCR Ibérico series will join the grid for the sixth round of the TCR Europe series in Barcelona in 2019, after a calendar change for the Portuguese-Spanish series necessitated by the cancellation of two events.
TCR Ibérico had originally been set to race at four events in 2019, including at Barcelona on the 23 – 24 March and Navarra on the 7 – 8 September.
However, both of those events have been cancelled, with the former being replaced by an event at Estoril on the 13 – 14 April, and the latter by a double-header with TCR Europe at Barcelona on the 20 – 22 September.
“Following the cancellation of the VdV Sports events we have reached an agreement with the Portuguese National Sporting Authorithy FPAK for establishing a TCR Class within the Portuguese Racing Open at Estoril and Vila Real,” explained promoter Paulo Ferreira, who also promotes TCR Europe.
“On top of this we took the opportunity to join the TCR Europe Series at Barcelona.”
The TCR Ibérico series will continue with its other events at Vila Real on the 5 – 7 July, supporting the FIA World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) event, and at Portimão on the 26 – 27 October supporting the European Le Mans Series.
