Team HARD’s Mike Bushell topped the timesheets in the second British Touring Car Championship practice session at Silverstone, ahead of Andrew Jordan’s BMW.
Rob Austin’s Alfa Romeo Giulietta went fastest early on, and was only knocked off the top spot within the final quarter of the session by Bushell and Jordan leaving Austin third.
Bushell continued his practice form to set a time of 58.423s, which was 0.070s quicker than Jordan, who improved his time to within a tenth of Bushell in the final few minutes.
Eurotech Racing’s Jack Goff was fourth quickest, 0.270s adrift, while fellow Honda Civic Type R runner Chris Smiley completed the top five.
Ricky Collard was an impressive sixth in his Team BMW 125i M Sport, with Brett Smith placing seventh meaning both Eurotech Hondas were within the top ten.
Tom Chilton was the fastest of the Motorbase Fords, with teammates Sam Tordoff and James Cole unable to break into the top 20.
Stephen Jelley improved late in the session to go ninth, while Dan Cammish completed the top ten in his Honda Civic Type R FK8.
Championship leader Colin Turkington could only manage 23rd, as he carries maximum success ballast (75kg) into qualifying and race one this weekend.
His title rival Tom Ingram also struggled, placing two positions behind the Northern Irishman in 25th.
Tom Oliphant, who topped the opening practice session this morning, managed 11th but received a black flag seemingly for repeated track limit infringements.
Qualifying for Rounds 25, 26 and 27 of the British Touring Car Championship at Silverstone is set to get underway this afternoon at 15:15 for the usual half-hour session.
