Dušan Borković has issued a statement apologizing for the post-race fight at Monza, which saw the Serbian title contender excluded from the results of the entire weekend in the TCR Europe series.
Borković was seen punching a member of the PCR Sport team after a clash between the Serbian and the Spanish team.
The incident resulted in his exclusion from the meeting, and the Taerget Competition driver being referred to the FPAK – Federação Portuguesa de Automobilismo e Karting – the body that rules the TCR Europe series.
On Tuesday, Borković issued a statement apologising for his role in the incident.
“I don’t want to enter into any further discussion about what happened in the paddock in Monza after the races or what you read in the press,” said Borković. “I am against physical violence and I’m always for nonphysical solution to the problem if possible.
“My reaction that you saw in the video is clearly too much, and I want to apologise for that. I want to extend my deepest apologies to competitors, all the teams, the organisation, the FIA and especially to all the fans.
“I live, love and respect auto sport too much to let this leave a bad mark on me or anybody above mentioned. I will be sure to fix that image from my end. Thank you all for your support and understanding.”
