Norbert Michelisz, Thed Bjork and FIA World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) standings leader Yvan Muller have all been excluded from qualifying ahead of the opening race in Slovakia.
The stewards found after the session that all three Hyundai i30 N TCR models – two from YMR and the other from BRC Racing Team – were found to have not respected the maximum boost pressure as per TCR’s Balance of Performance regulations.
The trio have been sent to the rear of the grid but are permitted to race, and have the option to appeal the stewards’ decision.
Michelisz’s teammate and pole-sitter Gabriele Tarquini remains unaffected.
He will now share the front row with Aurelien Comte’s Peugeot 308, with Pepe Oriola and Esteban Guerrieri for company behind.
Benjamin Lessennes has also been handed a 10 place grid drop for picking up a third reprimand, two of which were for driving infringements.
The opening race at the 3.6 mile Slovakia Ring gets underway at 11:00 BST.
