Speedworks Motorsports’ Tom Ingram was delighted with his fourth win of the season in a shortened first British Touring Car Championship race of the day at Silverstone.
“Really, from the right side of the grid, I wasn’t expecting to get the jump I did,” said Ingram. “I managed to get the jump and control the pace for the first few laps. The rain came down, which made it massively entertaining!”
Whilst Ingram was enjoying entertaining the crowd, and edging closer to Rob Collard’s forth pace in the driver’s championship standings, he acknowledged that the conditions were very difficult.
“It was just awful out there. I went off at Copse – as did almost everyone else! When you’re in the lead, you have to control the pace. You’re the one everyone is watching to see where you slow down or speed up so it makes it fairly hard work.
“I just tried to keep it neat and tidy and not have too many big moments. I’m happy with that and it’s a good start to the day.
“We’ve just got to keep the momentum going and see what we can do in race two and three.”
