Tom Chilton forced to miss Silverstone BTCC due to medical issues

Power Maxed Racing driver Tom Chilton will miss next weekend’s British Touring Car Championship meeting at Silverstone after being side-lined by medical issues.

The 32-year-old Vauxhall driver has been instructed on doctors orders to rest for four weeks instead of racing at the Northamptonshire circuit. Chilton’s medical issue comes after a routine operation from which Chilton returned ‘fit and well’ but which left him unable to get the medical sign-off in order to compete.

Chilton is currently in the middle of dual World Touring Car and British Touring Car Championship seasons, and missing the Silverstone weekend denies the Brit the honour of having competed in every weekend in both championships in a single season.

“It’s such a shame to miss the next races, but I have to follow the doctor’s orders,” said Chilton. “I’m gutted to miss Silverstone particularly as it’s one of my favourite tracks, but I will be back on the track at Brands.”

A replacement driver for Chilton is expected to be announced in the coming days, with the Brit returning for the season finale in October.
