Sutton demoted from race two podium, sent to back of grid for race three

Following a review of the last lap overtake by Ash Sutton on Colin Turkington, the race officials at Silverstone have penalised Sutton with a one-second penalty which effectively reverses their positions of third and fourth.

As this is Suttons third penalty of the season, he will also now start from the back of the grid for race three.  BMR are appealing this decision.

The move is significant in the battle for the drivers’ championship, as it gives Turkington two more points whilst denying Sutton the extra two he had scored over his nearest rival, reducing the gap between the pair from 11 to 7 points.

Meanwhile, the reverse grid gives Dave Newsham pole for the final race, with Rob Huff in second.
