Thai racer Munkong Sathienthirakul will step into the vacant second DG Sport Compétition opel Astra TCR for this weekend’s Thailand races in the TCR International Series.
The Belgian team’s second Astra has been raced by both Pierre-Yves Corthals and Grégoire Demoustier in the first 14 races of the 2017 season.
However after the last round in Germany, Demoustier told the team he would not be returning for the last three events in the Asian leg of the season, leaving the team to find a replacement driver.
Sathienthirakul has previous experience in TCR, having raced at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram in his home event in both 2015 and 2016. In the first year he achieved a best result of ninth with Craft-Bamboo Racing, before racing for Liqui Moly Team Engstler last year.
The team are still looking for a driver to race the car in China and the season finale in Abu Dhabi.
