Mat’o Homola has lost his fourth place on the grid for the opening TCR International Series race in Hungary, after his Opel Astra was found to not conform to the homologation paper.
Homola had originally put his DG Sport Compétition Astra in fourth, but he was later stripped of the result with all of his qualifying lap times deleted and must start both of Sunday’s races from the back of the grid.
Homola will only be allowed to start the races at the Hungaroring from the back of the grid if his car is modified to “return with conformity”.
Two other drivers have received grid penalties ahead of the races – Frédéric Vervisch for a change of engine and Ferenc Ficza for the same offence, but carried forward from the Salzburgring because he was unable to start either race at the time.
