Audi Sport Team Rosberg’s Jamie Green continued the run of good form for the marque at the Hungaroring this morning (Saturday, June 17th), as the Briton led a Ingolstadt 1-2-3-4-5 in second DTM free practice.
Green, who turned 35 this weekend, put in his best effort of a 1:35.674 in the last five minutes of the session, with Nico Müller, FP1 pace setter Mike Rockenfeller, Mattias Ekström and René Rast following suit. All five drivers were split by 0.299 seconds at the end of the 30-minute session.
Even with current points leader Lucas Auer and team mate Gary Paffett showing good pace from Mercedes, returnee Maro Engel went sixth fastest. Auer was ninth fastest, whilst Paffett was 17th, one of four Stuttgart drivers in the lower half of the table.
Timo Glock was the best of the BMWs in seventh, ahead of Team RBM’s Augusto Farfus, with defending champion Marco Witmann 15th, 1.101 seconds off the pace set by Green.
Loic Duval helped to put all Audi Sport drivers into the top ten, going tenth fastest in his RS5 DTM, 0.012 seconds behind Auer.
Paul Di Resta was 12th behind Tom Blomqvist, with 2012 champion Bruno Spengler and Robert Wickens behind the Scottish driver.
Mercedes Team BWT’s Edoardo Mortara was 16th fastest, with Maxime Martin slowest of all, 3.519 seconds off the pace, with several drivers including the Belgian exceeding track limits
Qualifying for the first race of the weekend gets underway at 1140 local time, lasting for 20 minutes.
