Dušan Borković reveals switch to Alfa Romeo for 2017 TCR season

Dušan Borković will drive an Alfa Romeo Giulietta in the forthcoming TCR International Series season, as the Serbian enters his second season in the championship.

Borković made his début in TCR in 2016, driving for the Hungarian B3 Racing Team in a SEAT León. Whilst an outright win eluded the 32-year-old, he stood on the podium six times and finished the season seventh overall in the drivers’ championship standings.

Borković will partner Georgian racer Davit Kajaia under the GE:Force banner for the forthcoming season, whilst also receiving support from car builder Romeo Ferraris.

“This year I will drive with my new team-mate Davit Kajaia,” said Borković to his Facebook fans. “He’s an amazing guy and also an amazing driver.

“We will drive the Alfa Romeo and have big support from Romeo Ferraris and I hope it will be a good year.

“The Georgian team and Romeo Ferraris have a plan that was really trustworthy and appealing to me. At this moment it is clear that I am going to compete in Alfa this season but they have long-term ambitions as well.

“Alfa have a few things to work on even during the season, but I have confidence with the Italian team that developed this car who will also take care of the car as a part of the Georgian team.

“I feel a great responsibility and a challenge to be improving and upgrading the car with this team throughout this season.”

Borković has set himself modest expectations for the year ahead, as he feels that the cars such as the Volkswagen Golf, SEAT León, Audi RS3 and Honda Civic are in a stronger position at present.

“[The] Alfa is still not on the level of the VW group or Honda Civic [cars] but it has a great potential and a bright future. As always, I will fight to score the best possible results in each race this season.”
