Honda’s World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) team completed a multi-day test at the Motorland Aragón track in Spain at the end of July, as the marque prepares for its home race in Japan next month.
Honda drivers Gabriele Tarquini and Tiago Monteiro took part in the test near Zaragoza in Spain, at the same time that rivals Citroën were also testing at the venue.
Both drivers had to contend with high temperatures and tough track conditions to work on improving their Civic, which next appears in anger at the Twin Ring Motegi in Japan.
“It was very hot but we did a lot of laps and it was very productive,” said Monteiro. “There was 100 per cent motivation from all the Castrol Honda crew.
“We still have quite a lot to catch up but after testing there will be some time to rest.”
Tarquini added: “We were working with the engineers trying to develop a lot the car to increase our performance.”
Honda have been boosted by the news that they will carry no compensation weight at the next round of the championship, whilst Citroën must carry the full 60 kg as usual.
