This morning saw BMW Motorsport’s Augusto Farfus take third place for the first Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters race this afternoon, as a result of this morning’s qualifying.
However, the Brazilian suffered an issue on his final lap of the session, which was initially thought to be a technical problem.
Post-qualifying checks revealed that there was insufficient fuel in the Shell M4 DTM, which was pulled back into pit lane, which Farfus had pre-empted through radio transmissions with his race engineer.
Farfus has been excluded and will start from last on the grid, as race 1 starts at 1448 CEST (1348 GMT.)
