Zengő Motorsport’s Norbert Michelisz has been given a three-place grid drop for the first of the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC) races in Morocco, dropping him from fourth to seventh.
Hungarian Michelisz had been set to benefit from penalties being applies to the Chevrolets of Hugo Valente and Tom Chilton ahead of him, who originally qualified in fourth and fifth but are to be demoted to the back of the grid for having had their engines changed. However, Michelisz’s Honda Civic was found to be underweight after qualifying, and he was handed a grid penalty.
Michelisz’s demotion promotes Honda’s Tiago Monteiro to fourth, Citroën’s Sébastien Loeb to fifth and ROAL Motorsport’s Tom Coronel to sixth, with the Hungarian slotting in seventh on the grid.
Craft-Bamboo Racing’s Grégoire Demoustier has also been demoted to the back of the grid due to an engine change on his Chevrolet, although the Frenchman had only qualified in 17th position to begin with.
