Audi have confirmed that they will field an unchanged driver line-up in the 2015 Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters (DTM) season, with former champions Mattias Ekström, Mike Rockenfeller and Timo Scheider spearheading the attack.
Audi will stick with its tried-and-tested formula for 2015, opting to stick with experience instead of introducing new youth talent. Having secured the manufacturers’ title in 2014, and finished the year with more drivers in the top ten in the championship than any other marque, the Ingolstadt manufacturer will make no changes to its line-up.
That leaves Mattias Ekström, Mike Rockenfeller, Edoardo Mortara, Timo Scheider, Jamie Green, Adrien Tambay, Miguel Molina and Nico Müller to stay with the manufacturer in 2015. Its drivers have a combined 59 seasons of experience in the German series and have secured five drivers’ titles between them.
Müller is the least experienced of the eight drivers, having made his DTM début in 2014. The Swiss driver finished the year in 19th in the championship, taking just one points finish with a fifth-placed finish in Moscow.
Double champion Scheider is the most experienced, having started 147 races since 2000. Fellow double champion Ekström is just four races behind, having made his début with Abt Sportsline just a year later.
Audi Sport have announced one change within the organisation, however, with Jörg Zander stepping up to become Head of Technology, replacing the outgoing Dr. Martin Mühlmeier, who moves to production development at Audi.
