The start saw James Nash in the repaired Team Aon Ford Focus hold the lead from Pole Position ahead of the Liqui Moly Team Engstler BMW 320TC of Franz Engstler while the ROAL Motorsport BMW 320TC of Tom Coronel moved up the order from P8 on the grid to P3.

Muller was leading the Chevrolet charge and he was leading his team-mates up the order, and on lap two Stefano D’Aste in the Wiechers-Sport BMW 320TC allowed the three Chevrolet’s to move ahead. On the following lap Tiago Monteiro was passed by Muller at the same corner.

Later around the lap, Coronel was demoted by Muller and Huff with Menu completing the move just after. This left Engstler and Nash to be dealt with by the Chevrolet trio and Engstler was passed on lap four but not without slight contact with Muller.

Nash defended valiantly but the inevitable came on the fifth tour and he dropped out of a podium position on the sixth lap as Menu moved ahead of the BTCC graduate.

With Nash clearly struggling with his cars brakes late in the race, and the damage incurred from the first race, he lost out to both Coronel and D’Aste on lap nine. At the same time Nash’s team-mate Tom Chilton, who had been running in ninth, dropped out of the race with turbo problems.

Coronel and D’Aste continued to battle until the chequered flag but the positions remained unchanged, with the Dutchman taking fourth and the Italian once again finishing as the top Yokohama driver in fifth.

Nash held on to take sixth, ahead of Pepe Oriola, Engstler, Monteiro and O’Young.

There was further misery for Gabriele Tarquini as he failed to take the start of the race, the Lukoil Racing driver peeling off into the pits at the end of the warm-up lap with suspension problems. Both Alberto Cerqui and Alex MacDowall also failed to finish the race due to broken driveshafts, a common problem at the Marrakech street circuit due to the aggressive way in which drivers ride the kerbs.
