Rob Austin Racing has confirmed that it will be using the VW/Audi Group 2.0 Litre TFSI engine in its BTCC Audi A4 cars. The engines will be prepared by Ric Wood Motorsport at their base in Stockport.
Commenting on the move Rob Austin said, “We are delighted to be working with Ric Wood on this project. We have been associated with Ric for some time now and are very confident that he will provide us with highly competitive engines along with great service”.
The cars which are currently in build at GPR Motorsport, are scheduled to be completed before the BTCC Media Day at Silverstone on March 24th where the RWD Audi A4s will be revealed along with the driver line up.
Austin further revealed, “We have considered a number of options including the TOCA engine but felt that the Audi A4 should have a VW/Audi group engine and that it should be prepared by someone that we know and trust. We can’t wait for the season to get under way so that we can prove that the decision to go with the Rear Wheel Drive A4 was the right choice”.
Commenting on the partnership Ric Wood said, “I am delighted and excited to get the opportunity to show our skills in the BTCC. I feel certain that the Audi A4 with Ric Wood power is going to be the perfect car to demonstrate the effectiveness of the NGTC regulations.”
