Aiden Moffat confirmed at West Surrey Racing in 2025

Aiden Moffat will return to racing a rear-wheel drive car in the 2025 British Touring Car Championship, after signing with West Surrey Racing to race a BMW 3 Series.

Moffat, who is entering into his 12^th full season in the BTCC in 2025, will join the team with backing from LKQ Euro Car Parts, which has supported the Scot since 2022.

The Scot returned to winning ways in 2024, finishing the year 13^th overall in an at-times testing season in a Speedworks Motorsport-run Toyota Corolla.

He will now switch team and car for the third consecutive season to join WSR, where he will be behind the wheel of a car which has twice won the drivers’ title in the past six seasons.

“It sounds like a cliché, but this really is a ‘dream come true’ moment for me in touring car racing,” said the 28-year-old, who was the youngest driver in BTCC history at his debut in 2013.

“The chance to join the best team on the grid doesn’t happen often so it’s fantastic that everything’s lined up for 2025 and that we can go forwards together with the support of LKQ Euro Car Parts.

“Having seen from the outside how WSR operate, they just seem to do things the right way in every area and we’ve all seen how much success they’ve had as a result.

“I don’t think I’ve ever felt so excited or motivated for a new BTCC season and honestly I wish we could get on track right now!”

Moffat’s team-mate in WSR’s four-car line-up for 2025 will be announced in due course. Jake Hill and Daryl DeLeon have already been confirmed as WSR drivers for 2025, and with Adam Morgan leaving the team for EXCELR8 Motorsport, it leaves only Colin Turkington’s position still to be revealed.

“We’re very pleased to welcome Aiden to WSR for 2025 as part of our LKQ Euro Car Parts BMW line-up,” said WSR Team Principal Dick Bennetts.

“As one of the few current BTCC drivers to have won races in front-wheel-drive and rear-wheel-drive cars, he should adapt to the BMW quickly and be able to challenge for strong results everywhere.

“It’s also interesting that he had his best BTCC Championship result in a rear-wheel-drive car in 2021.

“We’ve seen what he’s capable of on the racetrack – including several impressive wins – over the years.

“Our job now is to give him a car that will allow him to get the best out of himself as often as possible.”
