The FIA TCR World Tour will return to Australia in 2025, as it was announced that the series will form part of the bill for The Bend 500 event in September.
The TCR World Tour previously raced in Australia when it took part in events at the Sydney Motorsport Park and Mount Panorama circuits in 2023, both times in conjunction with TCR Australia.
Following a year away in 2024, the TCR World Tour will now return ‘down under’ in 2025, racing on a third different circuit at The Bend Motorsport Park from September 12 – 14.
“We are delighted to bring the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour back to Australia next year, especially now that the World Tour has been granted the FIA status,” said Marcello Lotti, President of TCR global rights holder WSC Group.
“Our previous visit in 2023, with the two joint events with TCR Australia at Sydney Motorsport Park and Bathurst, was incredibly successful.
“We delivered some spectacular races, with the international touring car stars facing strong competition from their Australian colleagues, as it was proved by Ben Bargwanna’s pole position and Will Brown’s double victory at Sydney and by the podium finishes of Tony D’Alberto and Aaron Cameron in Bathurst.
“We are all very much looking forward to race together with TCR Australia at the Shell V-Power Motorsport Park at The Bend in September 2025!”
Liam Curkpatrick, ARG Managing Director, says that the remainder of the 2025 TCR Australia calendar will be announced soon.
“We are thrilled to welcome back the Kumho FIA TCR World Tour, and it’s fantastic to see the series joining such a high-profile event in The Bend 500,” added Curkpatrick.
“The international presence in and around the category brought a phenomenal level of interest and excitement in the final two rounds of 2023, and we’re ready to bring that excitement back for a blockbuster weekend of racing.
“This is just the first piece of the puzzle in the 2025 Supercheap Auto TCR Australia Series calendar, and we look forward to announcing the rest of our exciting calendar shortly.”
