Power Maxed Racing’s Árón Taylor-Smith is in a confident mood heading into this weekend’s British Touring Car Championship races at Knockhill, praising the work his team has put into improving his car.
It was at Knockhill last year when Taylor-Smith recorded his then-best finish of the season, coming close to a podium finish in the second race of the weekend.
The Irishman of course went on to record two more podiums in the following meetings at Donington Park and Silverstone in 2023, and in the current season he has already recorded a podium finish at an earlier stage than one year previous.
With Taylor-Smith already being close to his points tally from last year, he is in a confident mood ahead of the annual trip north this weekend, once again praising the work of his team in delivering him a strong race car.
“Knockhill is a track that I’ve always clicked with and one of my favourites that we visit,” said Taylor-Smith, who hasn’t yet had a podium at the Scottish circuit but has twice finished fourth – in 2012 and 2023.
“From the second you leave the pit lane you’re on maximum attack and it rewards the brave; it also produces some of the best racing in touring cars.
“Heading to Scotland I feel that the car is in the best window it has ever been in that is testament to all of the work that Evans Halshaw and Power Maxed Racing has put in.
“It’s one of the best in the paddock and I’m excited to see what results we can bring home this time around.”
Team Principal Adam Weaver hopes the team can continue to be the class of the Independents’ field, where the outfit has claimed top honours in 17 of the 18 races in 2024.
“We’re heading towards a crucial point in the season where every point is going to become even more vital,” added Weaver. “We’ve worked hard to establish ourselves at the top of the Independents’ so the aim is to maintain our advantage as well as chase more podiums.
“It was about this time last year that we really kicked things up another gear and enjoyed a strong end to the season, and given the amount of work everyone is putting in I’m excited to see where we stack up in the coming races.”
