Kobe Pauwels kept Comtoyou Racing on top of the times in another wet practice session for the TCR Europe series at Monza, with series returnee Felice Jelmini just a tenth of a second behind.
A rain shower before the session meant the track was wet, and although it remained so throughout, times improved in the final minutes as conditions became more favourable.
As such, Belgian Pauwels put in the quickest lap late in the day, posting a time of 2 minutes 13.241 seconds, which was six tenths slower than team-mate Tom Coronel’s best lap of the day in first practice.
Jelmini was second in his Audi, with Viktor Davidovski once again putting a strong performance in third, having been second quickest in the earlier wet session.
Nicola Baldan improved his ranking by one place from FP1, but not his time, going fourth fastest, just under six tenths off the pace.
Ruben Volt was the best non-Audi driver, lapping fifth fastest in his new Honda, the only other driver within a second of Pauwels.
Levente Losonczy had been the second slowest in FP1, but despite only improving his time by two tenths, ended up sixth as the leading Hyundai racer.
Coronel was seventh, completing the third fewest laps of the field, more than two seconds slower than his benchmark time of the day.
The top ten was completed by Comtoyou’s John Filippi, MA:GP’s Viktor Andersson and Volcano Motorsport’s Daniel Tkachenko.
Qualifying is scheduled to get underway at 12:00 CEST (11:00 BST) on Saturday morning, followed by race one at 18:25 CEST (17:25 BST).
