Ash Sutton stormed to the lead off of the line to cruise to yet another victory to extend his championship lead in race two at Croft.
Sutton, on softs, used his tyre to launch himself off of the line and pass teammate Dan Cammish, on mediums, for the lead. Once that happened it was a breeze for the championship leader winning by 7.682 seconds.
Cammish himself had a straightforward race as he had Sutton out far in front and managing the gap behind. That gap was to the third NAPA Racing UK car on the podium in the form of Dan Rowbottom, on mediums.
Rowbottom’s race was not as easy as his teammates out front having to deal with constant pressure from behind. Tom Ingram, on mediums, was the man trying to hunt his way onto the podium yet fell short by 0.754 seconds.
Josh Cook was the second driver on the road on soft tyres. The One Motorsport driver was holding off BMW’s throughout the entire race. One of those being championship contender Jake Hill who span out to return only to 11th come the chequered flag.
Colin Turkington was next over the line with a sixth place finish. The sole position being made through Hill’s spin moving up from his seventh place start. The Team BMW driver fell short of Cook by 0.366 seconds whilst on medium tyres.
Behind was teammate Stephen Jelley who had a more exciting race than his race one. Starting from eighth on the soft tyres again the only position made was from Hill’s spin. Despite that Jelley’s gap to Cook was 0.685 seconds with Turkington splitting the pair.
Ricky Collard, on soft tyres, brought about a much needed top 10 result for the Toyota Gazoo Racing Team. After starting in 11th Collard drove superbly picking his moments to move forward.
The sole Cupra in the top 10 came in the form of Dan Lloyd. Lloyd, on softs, has been as fast as he has all season this weekend getting amongst the battles on the fringes of the top 10. Starting 12th he followed Collard through the field to take home ninth place.
Rounding out the top 10 was Tom Chilton who who moved up five positions having a great race two. Chilton, on softs, was the first man outside of a second of the driver in front until Josh Cook in fifth. That and a near five second gap behind left for a lonely race.
