Jake Hill ‘a bit disheartened with two second places’

Although he acknowledged that it had been ‘a good day’ in the British Touring Car Championship at Snetterton, Jake Hill admitted that he was ‘a bit disheartened’ with two second places to Ash Sutton.

In both races one and two, NAPA Racing UK’s Sutton was the comfortable victory ahead of Laser Tools Racing’s Hill, taking Sutton’s win streak to a 26-year record of four in a row.

Whilst BMW racer Hill knew that to be second in both races one and two represented a good result, he was left frustrated at the pace gap to Sutton’s Ford at the front.

Hill followed up his podiums with tenth in race three, having started from fifth in the race in which he had to run on the unfavourable hard tyre.

“Overall it’s been a good day,” said Hill. “The BMW’s been quick in races one and two and even in the last race I don’t think we could have done any better with the hard tyre.

“It’s strange because I feel a bit disheartened with two second places just because the car that won was uncatchable.

“But on the whole two seconds is great and we move on to Thruxton where I’ve been strong for the past few years and aim to get the first win of 2023 there.”

Hill thus sits fourth overall in the drivers’ championship standings with 98 points, tied with Dan Cammish, 37 points behind series leader Sutton.
