Jake Hill is hoping to win on the Brands Hatch Indy layout for the first time in this weekend’s British Touring Car Championship races in Kent, with the Laser Tools Racing driver pointing to last year’s form as a positive sign.
Hill, 29, is currently the best-ranked BMW driver in the championship, having finished second, 16th and fourth respectively in the trio of races held at Donington Park last month.
The Kent-based racer’s previous form around the 1.94 kilometre circuit has seen him claim second on two occasions – in race three last year, and also in the opening race of 2019, when he was in Audi machinery.
Hill also has a strong qualifying record at the circuit, having put his BMW in second last year, and third a year previously when racing in the front-wheel drive Ford Focus.
As such, Hill is looking forward to the second event of the season, where the MB Motorsport driver hopes his increased familiarity with car and team will pay dividends.
“I’m really looking forward to Brands Hatch this weekend,” said Hill. “I’m born and bred in Kent and grew up watching races at Brands and then eventually racing here, so it’s always a special weekend.
“We were quick at Donington, battling at the front all weekend and collecting silverware.
“Brands Hatch Indy is always exciting, there’s very little room for error and you have to be so precise as the lap times are so close.
“Last year I started on the front row and got a podium here; so heading back, after a year with the car and the team under my belt, I’m more experienced and I’m hoping to channel that into a victory this weekend.”
