Will Powell is the final driver to be announced for the 2023 British Touring Car Championship, with the 38-year-old slotting in at One Motorsport to race its third Honda Civic Type-R.
Powell made his BTCC début in 2022 with Team HARD, where he raced one of its CUPRAs to a best result of 21st in a part-season campaign which came about as a late deal when Jack Goff’s drive fell through.
Powell was one of only three drivers, along with Rick Parfitt and Nic Hamilton, to fail to score a point after contesting more than half a season of races.
He will line up alongside Josh Cook and Aiden Moffat at the newly-rebranded One Motorsport with Starline Racing, formerly known as BTC Racing.
Powell’s racing resumé includes previous stints in GT Racing and TCR. He previously ran his own outfit, Motus One, which merged with BTC Racing during the winter to become One Motorsport.
“After a busy winter of change, I’m delighted to be driving for One Motorsport with Starline Racing this year,” said Powell, who is also the team’s Commercial and Marketing Director.
“We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to merge the touring car and sports car programmes over the winter and rebrand to One Motorsport.
“We’ve also welcomed partners like LKQ Starline, Castrol and Zovoo and so now it’s time to purely focus on going racing.
“It’s great to be working with experienced campaigners like Josh and Aiden, who I know I can learn from, and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in.”
Powell will be working with Team Owner Steve Dudman and Team Manager Danny Buxton in 2023.
