Independent racer Lachlan Mineeff will remain in the TCR Australia series in 2023, racing the Audi RS3 LMS which he campaigned in the final rounds of last season.
Mineeff, 20, made his TCR Australia début in 2021, competing in three events in a Volkswagen Golf GTi with a best result of sixth in the season finale.
He stayed in the ageing Golf for the first four rounds of the 2022 season, before switching to an Audi for the final three events in his first full-season in the touring car championship.
The switch produced an immediate uptick in form, with Mineeff finishing in the top ten three times in the final eight races, going on to record a career-best result of fifth in the very final race of the season at Bathurst.
Whilst confirming his plans for 2023, Purple Sector racer Mineeff has revealed he will miss the season opener at Symmons Plains Raceway next month, instead joining the grid at the second round at Phillip Island.
“Missing the opening round does put a dampener on our title aspirations, but as long as we can finish races and do well you never know,” said Mineeff.
“If you look back at the end of last year’s series there were a number of drivers in proper title contention with two, three or four DNFs beside their name.
“We’ve got to look at Tasmania as three DNFs and make sure we finish the races for the rest of the year to do really well.
“TCR Australia is very exciting and promising this season. The fact we’ve got the TCR World Tour joining at the end of the year is awesome.
“I think the ability for all Australia teams and drivers, especially us at Purple Sector to compare ourselves to the best in the world is really exciting.
“TCR is such a good platform, which allows this opportunity and I’m very keen to see what we can do for the rest of the year, plus we want to make sure everything we commit to is done right as well as to the best of our ability.
“We’ll be taking this time to make sure the Audi is up to spec and ready to go, so I think there is no reason it won’t be competitive this year.
“The new year brings in a fresh look and we’re excited to keep working with new and existing partners to put a really good campaign together this year.
“The morale is very high for the upcoming season, with a lot of really cool things to work on.”
