Finesse Motorsport and Tech-Speed Motorsport will join forces for the 2013 British Touring Car Championship after they announced that Joe Girling will compete for them in the Jack Sears Trophy.
Tech-Speed hold a wealth of experience in the BTCC having competed in the series since the early 1990s, most recently partaking in the 2011 championship with Paul O’Neill and John George at the wheel. Speaking to btcc.net, Team Boss Marvin Humphries spoke optimistically about the team’s prospects for the 2013 season, where they will once again run an S2000-spec Chevrolet Cruze: “We believe the Cruze is still a very capable car, and are confident that Joe will soon settle in and find good results amongst the Jack Sears runners.”
Girling had been tipped to fill the seat after shaking-down the Cruze in December of last year, and following his confirmation he was excited about the challenge ahead despite the step-up in competition.
“It’s quite daunting to be honest but it’s obviously very exciting too,” said Girling. “To be racing in the same events as the likes of Matt Neal and Jason Plato is a little surreal, but I’ll be aiming to keep my head down and produce some decent results. I am not one to make bold claims and I’m sure it will take me a little while to acclimatise to it all, but I am confident in my own ability and the Cruze is also a very capable car.”
