World Touring Car Cup regular Tiago Monteiro will make a guest start in this weekend’s ADAC TCR Germany season finale at Oschersleben, racing alongside Team Honda ADAC Sachsen’s Dominik and Marcel Fugel.
Monteiro will act in a supporting role for Dominik Fugel, who is currently third overall in the drivers’ standings and seeking to close the 18-point deficit to lift the 2020 title.
Monteiro has already raced alongside Fugel before, teaming up in a Honda Civic Type-R TCR along with Esteban Guerrieri and Markus Oestreich for the ADAC Nürburgring 24 Hours race in September, where the quartet claimed TCR class victory.
“I’m really looking forward to the challenge in ADAC TCR Germany and I’m already looking forward to the races,” said Monteiro.
“To start in a team with Dominik and Marcel Fugel in the ADAC TCR Germany is a great thing. I’m sure that it will be a very exciting weekend.
“I’ve been following the series for a long time. Both of the Fugel brothers told me a lot and I can hardly wait to start in Oschersleben. And of course, I keep my fingers crossed for Dominik that he can secure the title.”
The idea had been considered for some time following the meeting at the Nürburgring Nordschleife two months’ ago.
“We already had the idea at the 24h race at the Nürburgring,” explained Team Leader Klaus Kniedel. “Tiago was immediately enthusiastic about it and accepted without hesitation, because he knows how exciting the races are here.”
