Gilles Magnus continued his blistering form in the second World Touring Car Cup (WTCR) free practice session at Motorland Aragón, becoming the first driver to break the 2 minutes 5 seconds barrier.
With a lap time of 2 minutes 5.724 seconds, Magnus was three tenths clear of his nearest challenger and Comtoyou Racing stablemate Nathanaël Berthon; the two of them leading the way as they had done in free practice one.
Championship leader Yann Ehrlacher showed good pace too, albeit a further three tenths of a second back in third.
Gabriele Tarquini was the fastest of the Hyundai contingent once again, completing the session in fourth ahead of Tom Coronel in fifth. Crucially for the Dutchman though, his earlier driveshaft issues appear to have been ironed out for now.
Mikel Azcona is yet to find top form at his home circuit, but nonetheless is still firmly in the mix, ending the second practice session in sixth ahead of Yvan Muller.
Jean-Karl Vernay was eighth quickest for Team Mulsanne, but the Frenchman stole the limelight towards the end of this session after his Alfa Romeo lost its front-left wheel, which would ultimately lead to a red flag and premature end to the track action.
Luca Engstler and Santiago Urrutia rounded out the top ten for Team Engstler and Cyan Racing respectively.
Meanwhile, it is shaping up to be a tricky weekend for title contender Esteban Guerrieri. The Argentine could do no better than twelfth in this session, ahead of reigning champion Norbert Michelisz in thirteenth.
