The TCR Balance of Performance [BoP] values have been reverted to those published in the previous technical bulletin, reducing the power of the Lynk & Co cars by 2.5%, after Cyan Racing dominated the Zandvoort WTCR qualifying session.
The TCR Technical Department issued a bulletin prior to the fourth round of the FIA WTCR that the Lynk & Co 03 cars would receive a 2.5% increase in power and a 10 kg increase in weight from the Dutch round.
The cars dominated qualifying, leading a 1-2-3-4 in the times which saw fifth-placed Mikel Azcona, the best of the other manufacturers, more than seven tenths of a second adrift.
The reverted BoP puts the Chinese cars back on 97.5% power and a minimum racing weight of 1,355 kg.
WSC President Marcello Lotti defended the decision to put the new Lynk & Co car back to the previous events’ BoP.
“The BoP works very well thanks to the joint efforts of the technical departments of WSC and FIA; and this was proved by the results of the previous events,” said Lotti.
“The adjustment granted to the Lynk & Co had been applied following their performance at the Slovakiaring.
“That is a brand-new car and after only three events our technicians still haven’t built a complete picture of its potential, which is why there was a misjudged interpretation of their performance.
“Because of this, the BoP has been further adjusted to re-balance the performance.”
