Four drivers hit with penalties after race one at the Hungaroring

Four drivers were given post-race penalties after the first FIA World Touring Car Championship race at the Hungaroring, with three drivers penalised for repeatedly exceeding track limits.

SLR’s Benjamin Leuchter was hit with the smallest penalty, five seconds added to his race time, for a false start having been out of the starting box at the start of the race.

Leuchter’s penalty did not actually drop him any positions due to the greater penalties handed to those ahead of him – he was classified 20^th in the final result, having been 22^nd at the chequered flag.

Three drivers, Mikel Azcona, Nicky Catsburg and Niels Langeveld were given 30-second post-race penalties for repeatedly exceeding track limits.

As a result PWR Racing’s Azcona dropped from 17^th to 22^nd, BRC Racing’s Catsburg fell from 18^th to 23^rd and Comtoyou Racing’s Langeveld was demoted from 20^th to 24^th.

None of the penalties affect the championship standings as all drivers were outside the top fifteen points-scoring positions.
